Moderation policy
How we moderate the community forum.
Pre-moderation
All forum posts and replies from registered users enter a pending queue and are reviewed by a moderator before appearing publicly. Staff posts skip the queue and are auto-approved.
Removed content
- Content that identifies private individuals (including police officers) without strong public-interest grounds
- Threats, harassment, or incitement to violence
- Spam, advertising, or off-topic content
- Material that risks contempt of court or prejudices an active case
- Personal medical, custody, or legal records that could identify a third party
Reports
Anyone signed in can report a post or reply. Three open reports against a post or reply automatically hide it pending moderator review. Repeat reporting is rate-limited.
Appeals
If your post or reply is rejected or hidden, contact us via the contact page. Decisions are reviewed by a different moderator from the one who made the original call.
Escalation
Content raising legal, safeguarding, or security concerns is escalated to senior moderators and, where appropriate, to the editor responsible for legal review.
